Golden Girls

Over the past couple of years, gold has easily become one of my favorite colors to play with. I remember in my teen years thinking that gold jewelry was for old ladies, and only stuck with my sterling silver Tiffany necklaces, bracelets, and rings. Since then, I've grown to appreciate the delicate color, and love mixing-and-matiching it into my wardrobe as often as possible. What's your favorite way to wear gold?

City Style

I was in Boston over the weekend visiting friends and family, and even though I've been there a million times, I always come home wishing that I could make the move up to New England to be closer to everyone. Buuuuut, then I get back into the city and remember why I love it here so much: things like this awesome editorial for Grazia Italy. Andressa Fontana is every city girl's dream. She's got style, she's got swag, and she does it all so effortlessly in the summer heat. Can I be her...especially in that chambray top and multi-colored pencil skirt?

Tees by Tina Blogger Project

Remember when I styled a Junkfood tee for their blogger project? Well, I'm at it again, but this time I'm participating in one for Tees by Tina! Each blogger (there are 15 of us!), had to select one of these skirts to style, and this is what I've come up with! If you love what I've done with it, make sure to hop on over to their Facebook and Pinterest pages and vote for me!

Wardrobe Wednesday

I wore this outfit on Saturday night after getting home from vacation. The air was a little chilly and I was going to be sitting in an outdoor theater (I saw the play Damn Yankees at a community theater that I've been going to forever), so I layered a denim jacket on top to keep warm (with a blanket too!). I never realized how much I love neons and navy, until I paired this hot pink tank with a navy cardigan that I forgot that I had. Love when that happens, and a new outfit is formed! I see this being worn again in the near future!

The Crew

After being down the shore for a week, I've realized that there is nothing better than a pair of denim cutoffs, a comfy crew neck sweatshirt, flip-flops and the cool breeze from the ocean on a summer night. I'm serious, nothing is better, not even the most expensive Chanel bag. And I say that with a straight face and my utmost sincerity. I'm not quite sure why I feel this way, but I do. And I'm not ashamed.

Sun Kissed

I'm back from an amazing week down the shore in LBI with my family, and I'm wishing that I was still there! I had the best time relaxing on the beach, riding cruisers with Nick, taking my pup to the doggy beach, and enjoying lots of ice cream. We had almost perfect weather (it rained on our last full day...it gave us a good reason to go see the new Batman movie though!), and I couldn't be happier with the way I spent my time off. Here's a little preview of my week via Instagram pics...more to come soon!

Friday Happiness

taken from lucky mag's instagram

I leave for vacation tomorrow and I honestly couldn't be happier. I still have so much to do in terms of packing, but I'm so excited to ditch my regular schedule next week, and soak up some much needed sun. I won't be back on here until I get back, but I promise I'll have lots of pics to share :)

Glow, Gisele, Glow

The always gorgeous Gisele Bundchen looked nothing but HOT in her July 2012 shoot with Vogue Brazil. Neon has obviously claimed the #1 spot on summer's trend list, and Gisele can totally work it it better than anyone else. But hey, if I had a face like hers and legs for days, I bet I could make a paper bag look sexy. Cheers to neon and glowing in the dark.

Wardrobe Wednesday

This skirt (the longer version here) is a recent purchase from J.Crew, and I am utterly obsessed with it. I love the color combo of the sandy metallics and the beachy blues and corals. I paired it with this peplum top from Anthropologie, but it looks great with just a white tee and a denim jacket, or a chambray top. I can already tell that this skirt will be a staple in my summer wardrobe...it's already packed for my beach vacation next week!

Jungle Fever

I'm not sure what it is about leopard print, but I always find myself attracted to it. From tops at J.Crew to DVF flats with a little hit of leopard, I just can't seem to get enough! What I find the most difficult about the print though, it keeping it from looking too Housewives of Fill In the Blank (even though I'm a HUGE fan NJ) or too Snooki-ish. To avoid this tragic look, I often veer towards subtle animal prints or pieces that are made with quality fabrics. Here are some of my latest leopard obsessions.

Friday Happiness

taken from here

The mid-week holiday was quite nice, even though I would have preferred a three-day weekend. I'm looking forward to this weekend mainly because I leave for vacation a week from Saturday. I'll be spending my days getting everything ready to go, maybe doing a little last minute shopping, and if I can, I'm going to try and squeeze a little beach trip in as well!

This is my happiness...

Summer Sweets

I spent the 4th down the shore at a family friend's beach house in Ocean Grove, NJ, which was the perfect way to spend the day. I soaked up lots of sun, enjoyed an ice cream cone from Days (anyone who is familiar with the area knows that they have amazingggg ice cream!), watched the local parade, and saw fireworks at night. Hope you all enjoyed your 4th of July celebrations!

Since I was going to be visiting friends, I decided to bake cute, summery, cupcakes in honor of the mid-week celebration. I didn't want to go too patriotic, so when I found this pic on Pinterest, I knew that I had to make them. Mine didn't come out as perfect ( I have to work on perfecting my piping skills), but they were tasty and surely made a statement! Oh and just to spill my secret, I had a little help from my good friends Betty and Duncan...

Ingredients:
1 Box of Vanilla Cake Mix
1 Can of Vanilla Frosting
Mini Chocolate Chips
Red Food Coloring
Green Food Coloring

1. Follow the directions on the box to make the cake. Before separating into the cupcake pan, add red food coloring, and a hearty amount chocolate chips.

2. Dye the vanilla frosting green, and once the cupcakes have cooled, pipe on the frosting in a spiral pattern. Place a few chocolate chips on each cupcake to look like seeds.

3. Enjoy!

Hello Sailor!

Independence Day is just a day away, and nothing screams American pride to me more than some sailor stripes and of course, red, white and blue. I hate being too literal when it comes to dressing for national holidays, and I think sailor stripes are the perfect way to make a statement without going too far into this territory. I've got some of my own stripes ready for the national bash, so bring on the beach, the fireworks, and of course, some good old country music!

Grounds for Sculpture

We've checked another thing off of our summer checklist!

Last weekend, Nick and I took a ride down to Hamilton, New Jersey where we spent Saturday afternoon roaming the paths of Grounds for Sculpture, and taking lots of silly pictures. We had perfect weather, and even though there were some pretty funny looking sculptures, we had the best time laughing and admiring them all!
