Jet Setting: Long Beach Island

Okay, so maybe I'm not jet setting to the Jersey Shore, but I'm considering it that anyway. Who cares if I'll be driving for an hour and a half down the parkway tonight with my boy and my puppy?

Anyway, my parents rented a house in Long Beach Island for the week and I am so excited to get down there and just RELAX with my family (and hopefully bake this cold that I've seemed to come down with. Go figure). All I need is a bikini, a book, and some sunshine and I'll be content. Oh yea, some seafood and a bottle of wine will do. Okay and maybe some tissues too. Geez that seems like a lot to ask for.

Before I leave though, I wanted to share some cool beachy pics that i found here. I'll have plenty of my own when I get back....that I can promise.

I came across these photos from the May 2011 issue of Elle Norway, and I am sooooo in love with them. I think the mix of sweet and edgy against the raw background of the dessert looks amazing, and the story was styled so well. I want to be her, or there, or both. How cool?

It's almost the weekend! Just a few more hours of working (of course today is a super busy day), and then I'm home free! No major plans this weekend, but I'm excited to hit the beach, as always, and hang out with some friends. I'm really excited for this time next week though because I'll be down the shore with my family-relaxing-for a nice long weekend. Woo! Lot's to do before then though, so I gotta keep hangin' in there! Hope you all had a lovely week! Enjoy this gorg weather! xx

Hello Gorgeous

I've never been a huge makeup wearer, but I have to admit, I can't walk into a Sephora and come out empty handed. It's kind of ridiculous actually. I go in for one bronzer replacement and come out $150 later with eyeliner, eyeshadows, and lip glosses that i don't really need. It's been a while since I've done this- working at the magazine definitely has it's perks (thank you beauty girls!)-but I've been thinking that a Sephora might be necessary soon. My poor bank account.

Since I don't ever really talk about beauty products (besides Essie nail polish, because I'm obsessed) i figured I would open up my makeup bag and give you guys an idea of what I use on a regular basis...

The most important thing is the bag that holds it all (spoken like a true fashion girl)...my Kate Spade Natalie bag is amazing. It holds all my necessary things when I travel and is super easy to clean.

My favorite bronzer is Too Faced Caribbean in a Compact. I've been using it for about 3 years now and I love how it gives me just the right amount of glow during the months that I need it most....November-April.

I think I have a thing for Too Faced because besides my bronzer, I use Too Faced Peach Leopard blush and Too Faced Lash Injection mascara.

To get the smokey eye effect which I'm a fan of for going out, I use Sephora's eyeshadow in Sale Suede. It gives just the right about of smoke, without making me look like a crack whore. To line my eyes, I've recently started using a Nars eye pencil. It gets a little smudgy by the end of the night, but looks great to start!

I'm a huge fan of Sephora lip glosses and use them on a regular basis. I prefer nude or neutral colors that put a little shimmer on my pout, and the Fresh Gloss even adds a little minty fresh scent.

For hair, I'm addicted to Oscar Bland's dry shampoo and Bumble and Bumble's Extra Strength Holding Spray (anything Bumble and Bumble is a-okay by me!) because it smells sooooo good-seriously like candy. 

I also LOVE Philosophy products and have always been a huge fan of their body washes. One of my favorites is Senorita Margarita (I mean come on, even the name is adorable!). The scent isn't too fruity and leaves me feeling squeaky clean, where as some other brands that I have tried have left me smelling like a fruit basket or a bakery.

As for perfume, I'm a firm believer in finding the right scent for your personality and sticking with it. I've been wearing Burberry Brit for quite some time, and find it hard to replace. I do love Miss Dior Cherie though, as well as Chanel Chance. All classics in my book. The mustier and spicier, the better!

BFFs, Biffles, and Besties

Remember the days when you used to wear 20 homemade string bracelets all the way up your arms and ankles? Well they're back. Except in a much more sophisticated way, if that's even possible.

Its the return of the friendship bracelet. Instead of making them at sleep away camp like I used to, or in a friends backyard while sipping on lemonade after you had been swimming in the pool all afternoon, jewelry designers are making it easy for us "adults"-I use that term loosely- to slip them on in the morning and go. How convenient? I'm kind of excited about this new summer trend and am trying to work them into my everyday look. What do you think?

Me Likey Givenchy

The Fall 2011 Givenchy Couture show was anything but bland. The as neutral-as-it-gets color palate was somewhat refreshing, and the dress designs were to die for. Seriously, if I was in the market for a wedding dress, I might be sold on one of these. Key word there, if. I'll let the clothes speak for themselves.
