Friday Happiness

Friday is upon us once again! This week seemed to fly by. Maybe it was having Monday off for Martin Luther King Day. Maybe it was the photo shoot I had on Tuesday. Maybe it is just time flying by as it seems to have been doing for the past year and a half. I swear, since I've graduated from college, time seems to just wiz by.  It scares me that I'm not paying attention to the little things and I feel like I need to take a step back and enjoy them. New resolution (is that even allowed 20 days into the new year?)? 

Anywayyy, this weekend I'm planning on taking it easy... I've been feeling slightly under the weather for 2 weeks now and I want to knock any inkling of sickness that might be lingering, before I head to Boston next weekend to visit my college friends (soooo excited!). I'm sure a trip to the mall and maybe some time spent with my guy. Oh yea, and my Saturday morning Pilates class is a given :)

Wardrobe Wednesday (A Day Late...)

Whoops...it's not Wednesday anymore is it?? I realized I forgot to post my Wednesday Wardrobe look like I promised last week. Sorry! Having Monday off from work threw me off track a little!

I decided to tear myself away from my usual jean look yesterday and went for a pair of these J Brand cords (in blue) that have been hanging in my closet since October...untouched. I received them as a gift from the J Brand preview a while back, and while totally obsessed, just haven't gotten around to wearing them yet. I decided to keep my look simple, by pairing my cords with a black silk top and leopard belt (both from J.Crew). I loved the simplicity, the comfort, and the easiness of the outfit. It made for a cool and casual style.

Somehow Friday has finally arrived. Did the week drag on for anyone else? I remember asking myself on Tuesday, "how many more days until the weekend?". Lucky for me though, I have a long weekend for Martin Luther King Day. No work on Monday, woohoo! Nothing to complain about here! 

I'm looking forward to a mani/pedi on early on Saturday morning, followed by my pilates class. On Sunday I'll be heading up to Connecticut to see my great-grandma, Mimi Syl.

Light Bright

I always get super bummed out about winter after the holidays. Drab and dull days (like today!) seem to overshadow the once merry and festive atmosphere, and the bitter cold leaves a chill in my body that I can never seem to get rid of. I find myself constantly longing for summertime and all that goes with it: sandals instead of boots, sleeveless dresses to replace sweaters, wide-brim hats over mittens and gloves, and most of all, being at the beach!

To bust out of my winter slump, I put together a little round up of some brightly colored things that I'm currently lusting over. A little neon always brightens up my day!

Wardrobe Wednesday

I've decided to start a new installment on here once a week: Wardrobe Wednesday. I'll be posting a piece of my outfit that I'm loving. I'm hoping to keep things fresh and different, so you can get a little glimpse of what I've got going on in my closet...because let's be real, it's jammed packed with tons of things that are begging to be worn!

Today I've created an arm party that I'm absolutely in love with. I've mixed silver and gold, and I'm liking the outcome of the different style/size pieces that I've selected. I love the brand Gorjana and have a ton of her wrap bracelets, (this one, this one, and this one, are just a few!) but I am obsessed with the metallic gold one that I have on today. Chan Luu is another favorite of mine, and this bracelet is so super cute and it goes with EVERYTHING! There's something about a stack of bracelets that just get's me so excited! Yes, I'm a nerd.

Gifted: Elizabeth & James Sunnies

I returned to work last week after a super long (and much needed) break, to a lovely little present from my friends over at Dualstar Entertainment: these amazing Elizabeth and James sunglasses! It was such a nice surprise to a day that I was honestly dreading (I love my job, but after a week and an half off for the holidays, I got pretty used to lounging around and doing my own thing without having to work!). I love how retro-chic they are and am super excited about pairing them with some sundresses and sandals this sumer! Here's a little looksy at them...how cute are they?! Thanks ladies :)

Gingerbread Fun

Every year, for the past 20 years (wow, we've gotten old!), we've celebrated Hanukkah with good family friends of ours by making gingerbread houses, or as we like to call them, Hanukkah houses. It's an event that we all look forward to, and the night is always filled with lots of laughs, lots of fun, and of course, lots of candy.

Its been somewhat of a tradition that each family's house is decorated in a theme, and over the years, we've come up with some pretty cool ones...

Back in 2006 my brother and I were on a red kick and decided that even though it was the middle of December we wanted to create a Valentine's Day house...

In 2007 we had some crazy fun creating Roxanne...I've noticed that whenever we need to name something in our family we name it Roxanne--the Hanukkah house, our navigation system, my brother's car....sheesh!

This year we decided to use banana chips on our roof and ended up creating a hula girl and a surfer for our tropical themed house. Pretty sure we all had summer on the brain.
