Summer Sweets

I spent the 4th down the shore at a family friend's beach house in Ocean Grove, NJ, which was the perfect way to spend the day. I soaked up lots of sun, enjoyed an ice cream cone from Days (anyone who is familiar with the area knows that they have amazingggg ice cream!), watched the local parade, and saw fireworks at night. Hope you all enjoyed your 4th of July celebrations!

Since I was going to be visiting friends, I decided to bake cute, summery, cupcakes in honor of the mid-week celebration. I didn't want to go too patriotic, so when I found this pic on Pinterest, I knew that I had to make them. Mine didn't come out as perfect ( I have to work on perfecting my piping skills), but they were tasty and surely made a statement! Oh and just to spill my secret, I had a little help from my good friends Betty and Duncan...

Ingredients:
1 Box of Vanilla Cake Mix
1 Can of Vanilla Frosting
Mini Chocolate Chips
Red Food Coloring
Green Food Coloring

1. Follow the directions on the box to make the cake. Before separating into the cupcake pan, add red food coloring, and a hearty amount chocolate chips.

2. Dye the vanilla frosting green, and once the cupcakes have cooled, pipe on the frosting in a spiral pattern. Place a few chocolate chips on each cupcake to look like seeds.

3. Enjoy!
