Friday Happiness

Friday is back! I'm super excited to celebrate Passover with my family this weekend. Lots of eating, laughing, more eating, and well, uh...eating? Yes. Wishing you all the best this holiday weekend!

Noted

One of the things that I pride myself on is sending thank you notes. I'm always getting sent presents at work (one of the many perks of my job!), and I have found that sending a personalized and hand written thank you note goes a long way, and is definitely appreciated in our world of crazy email overload.

I'm always looking for pretty notecards and have been wanting to make a purchase from Sugar Paper for a long time. I finally bit the bullet the other day and bought myself two new sets of cards, just in time for me to send out thank you notes from my birthday. It was super hard for me to decide on the sets that I did (everything is so cute, I wanted to buy it all!), so here is a roundup of some of my current favorites. Can you guess which ones I bought?

Wardrobe Wednesday: Knit Beanies

It's rare for you to find me rocking a hat other than a baseball cap (which is one of my favorite weekend accessories by the way), but every now and then I like to veer outside of my comfort zone. The occasional sun hat will make its way to the beach with me, and once in a while a knit hat is the perfect way to fight off the stinging winter cold. Now that my hair is long--err, longer-- I've been more open to tossing on a hat before heading out the door, and I've been cozying up to beanies. I recently purchased this guy from American Apparel, and can't stop trying to work it into my every day look. Obsessed is quite the understatement.

Today's Thoughts.

I recently saw this Shel Silverstein poem and thought about how much I love his poems and short stories. Growing up, I used to read his books cover-to-cover on repeat, and this little gem is still just as appropriate now, as it was back then.

Black & White is the New....Black?

Even though spring is all about color, sometimes, classic black and white feels just as fresh. I can always appreciate a pair of black cropped pants (think Audrey Hepburn), and white tops, whether its a an oversized tee or a crisp button down, but some jazzier pieces are just as chic and can become staples in your wardrobe this spring. My personal favorite, and something I'm definitely going to invest in this season, is a leather tank top. It would look super cute paired with some loose shorts or a flowy top!

Friday Happiness

I realized this week just how lucky I am. I've always been so appreciative of my job and the opportunities that it's brought me, but sometimes I take it for granted. I constantly tell people how my job is just as stressful as theirs, how I sit at a desk in front of a computer most days, and how I don't make enough money. But the reality is, my job is really cool. I get to travel to cool cities like Miami and LA, stay in amazing hotels, eat at the best restaurants, and in the case of my last trip, work on the beach in the sun all day long. Seriously, there's not much to complain about, other than the crispy burn I got from being in the sun for three straight days. When I stop and really look around, I realize how amazing my life really is, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Hope you all have a great weekend! I know I'll be celebrating my big 2-5 this weekend with all of my family and friends.

Friday Happiness

I'm looking forward to this weekend for a few reasons:

1. My best friends are coming to visit from Boston for the weekend, to help celebrate my birthday a little early! Can't wait for them to see my apartment, have girl time, and party like we're still in college.

2. We're getting blowouts at Drybar on Saturday afternoon, and I couldn't be more excited. It's been a while since I've been, but it is one of my fav beauty indulgences.

3. I get to go home on Sunday afternoon to visit my parents, see my brother, and of course spend time with the little pupcake. Feels like ages since we've all been together.

4. I'm headed on the first flight out of NY for Miami on Monday morning! It's a work trip and it's going to be crazy busy, but I'm super excited for sun and warm weather. Hopefully I'll come back up north with a little bit of a tan. Would be perfect and just in time for my birthday!

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Be back on here as soon as I'm back from Miami!

Chanel at PFW

I've been stalking style.com the past few days to see what amazing things Paris has come up with for us for our fall wardrobes. While I haven't been overly excited about anything in particular (I think NYC hit it right this year...shhh!), I was thoroughly impressed with Karl Lagerfeld's latest collection for Chanel. I've always been a fan of Chanel, but this collection seemed to take the brand back to it's roots...think lots of tweed, lots of chains, and lots of ladylike sophistication. There's a little bit of an edge to it though, and that's where you can see Lagerfeld's personal touches. The leather thigh-highs, chunky heels, and super short skirts, are just some of my favorite things. And I have to say, I've never been a fan of white boots, until now...

Wardrobe Wednesday: The Perfect Black Heel

Finding the perfect black heel isn't as easy as you might think. You have to look for the perfect heel height, the perfect rounded or pointy toe, the perfect fabric...the list goes on and on. But most importantly, comfort. What's the point in having a pair of basic pumps to wear with ANYTHING and EVERYTHING if they aren't comfortable? They'll sit in the closet untouched, and you'll be back to square one.

Enter: my favorite pair of heels, probably ever. Don't get me wrong, I have shoes that I'm obsessed with (like these lovelies!), but can only wear for a little while because they are super uncomfortable. Which is why I love these Kate Spade New York pumps. They're perfect with jeans and a blazer (like I'm wearing today), but they also look perfect with a floaty skirt, tights, and cute top, and I can wear them for dayssss. And one of my favorite parts...the shoe bag which makes bringing them to and from the office on work days, much more fun and glamorous!

Sorbet

After a fun but grey weekend, I have spring fever, and can't wait to ditch my heavy winter jacket and snow boots, for light anoraks, floaty dresses, and open-toed shoes. I'm tired of dreary greys and blacks (even though I love a good black maxi dress and grey t-shirts), and I'm ready for some fresh and punchy sorbet-esq colors. Nothing says spring more than a little cotton candy, creamsicle, and mint!

Friday Happiness

Friday is back and I'm counting down the hours until I can get out of the office and take off for the weekend. I'm heading to Mystic, CT for a few days with my guy (a super belated holiday present!) and we'll be spending the weekend getting lost in one of my favorite little towns. After a week of being super sick, I'm looking forward to some relaxation and of course, some yummy seafood.
