They Call it Life

Seems as though the things that are too good to be true, are just exactly that. But then again if there were no bumps in the road life would be boring, wouldn't it?

Boston Weekend Recap

I spent the weekend in Boston with some of my favorite people, celebrating my friend Marissa's birthday. The five of us (senior year college roommates) had not all been together since June when we saw Taylor Swift in concert. It had been way too long (let's not let that happen ever again ladies!)! We spent the night singing our lungs out at a really cool piano bar (even though they didn't play any of the songs we requested--except Justin Beiber) Howl at the Moon, taking lots of roomie pics (of course my camera never made it out of my bag though, so I'm stealing everyone else's!), toasting shots to the birthday girl, and then ended the night watching the Devil Wear's Prada and eating pizza. I'd say it was a pretty solid, and much needed girl's weekend! I'm looking forward to the next few months with more birthday adventures (it is birthday season after all), and sticking to my new once a month goal of seeing everyone!

Friday Happiness

taken from here

I'm so excited for this weekend! One of my roommates from college is celebrating her birthday up in Boston (where all of my roommates have settled down...I'm the lonely one here in NYC), so I am taking a quick trip up north to see everyone. I'll literally be up and back in 24 hours, but if it means I get to spend some time with my girls, I'm all for it. So in advance...HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARISSA!! Hope this year is the best one yet!

Happiness from the past week...

I've been doing a lot of market work for an upcoming cover shoot and have been calling in a ton of pastel jeans. I'm kind of hooked, and have been finding myself lusting after a few pairs, particularly the leopard Current/Elliott and the J.Crew jeans. Seems like spring is in full gear here in our if only the weather would get on board.

Wardrobe Wednesday

Yesterday was one of those days where I didn't feel like getting dressed for work. I would have much rather lounged around in sweats all day, but unfortunately, that was not an option. So instead of fighting the urge to wear sweatpants, I pulled out my favorite cashmere harem pants, paired it with a comfy white tee and an interesting necklace, and tied it together with a structured black blazer (shoulder pads included). I was able to stay comfy whilst still looking work appropriate, and I have to say, it was a pretty cute outfit!

Friday Happiness

Friday is upon us once again! This week seemed to fly by. Maybe it was having Monday off for Martin Luther King Day. Maybe it was the photo shoot I had on Tuesday. Maybe it is just time flying by as it seems to have been doing for the past year and a half. I swear, since I've graduated from college, time seems to just wiz by.  It scares me that I'm not paying attention to the little things and I feel like I need to take a step back and enjoy them. New resolution (is that even allowed 20 days into the new year?)?

Anywayyy, this weekend I'm planning on taking it easy... I've been feeling slightly under the weather for 2 weeks now and I want to knock any inkling of sickness that might be lingering, before I head to Boston next weekend to visit my college friends (soooo excited!). I'm sure a trip to the mall and maybe some time spent with my guy. Oh yea, and my Saturday morning Pilates class is a given :)

Enjoy your weekend!

Happy Happy Happy...

Wardrobe Wednesday (A Day Late...)'s not Wednesday anymore is it?? I realized I forgot to post my Wednesday Wardrobe look like I promised last week. Sorry! Having Monday off from work threw me off track a little!

I decided to tear myself away from my usual jean look yesterday and went for a pair of these J Brand cords (in blue) that have been hanging in my closet since October...untouched. I received them as a gift from the J Brand preview a while back, and while totally obsessed, just haven't gotten around to wearing them yet. I decided to keep my look simple, by pairing my cords with a black silk top and leopard belt (both from J.Crew). I loved the simplicity, the comfort, and the easiness of the outfit. It made for a cool and casual style.

Friday Happiness

taken from here

Somehow Friday has finally arrived. Did the week drag on for anyone else? I remember asking myself on Tuesday, "how many more days until the weekend?". Lucky for me though, I have a long weekend for Martin Luther King Day. No work on Monday, woohoo! Nothing to complain about here!

I'm looking forward to a mani/pedi on early on Saturday morning, followed by my pilates class. On Sunday I'll be heading up to Connecticut to see my great-grandma, Mimi Syl.

What are your weekend plans?

I'm happy and I know it...

Light Bright

I always get super bummed out about winter after the holidays. Drab and dull days (like today!) seem to overshadow the once merry and festive atmosphere, and the bitter cold leaves a chill in my body that I can never seem to get rid of. I find myself constantly longing for summertime and all that goes with it: sandals instead of boots, sleeveless dresses to replace sweaters, wide-brim hats over mittens and gloves, and most of all, being at the beach!

To bust out of my winter slump, I put together a little round up of some brightly colored things that I'm currently lusting over. A little neon always brightens up my day!

the lanvin flats and the marc by marc jacobs wallet (which was also featured here) would make great birthday gifts (wink, wink). just sayin'.

Wardrobe Wednesday

I've decided to start a new installment on here once a week: Wardrobe Wednesday. I'll be posting a piece of my outfit that I'm loving. I'm hoping to keep things fresh and different, so you can get a little glimpse of what I've got going on in my closet...because let's be real, it's jammed packed with tons of things that are begging to be worn!

Today I've created an arm party that I'm absolutely in love with. I've mixed silver and gold, and I'm liking the outcome of the different style/size pieces that I've selected. I love the brand Gorjana and have a ton of her wrap bracelets, (this one, this one, and this one, are just a few!) but I am obsessed with the metallic gold one that I have on today. Chan Luu is another favorite of mine, and this bracelet is so super cute and it goes with EVERYTHING! There's something about a stack of bracelets that just get's me so excited! Yes, I'm a nerd.

Gifted: Elizabeth & James Sunnies

I returned to work last week after a super long (and much needed) break, to a lovely little present from my friends over at Dualstar Entertainment: these amazing Elizabeth and James sunglasses! It was such a nice surprise to a day that I was honestly dreading (I love my job, but after a week and an half off for the holidays, I got pretty used to lounging around and doing my own thing without having to work!). I love how retro-chic they are and am super excited about pairing them with some sundresses and sandals this sumer! Here's a little looksy at cute are they?! Thanks ladies :)

Gingerbread Fun

Every year, for the past 20 years (wow, we've gotten old!), we've celebrated Hanukkah with good family friends of ours by making gingerbread houses, or as we like to call them, Hanukkah houses. It's an event that we all look forward to, and the night is always filled with lots of laughs, lots of fun, and of course, lots of candy.

Its been somewhat of a tradition that each family's house is decorated in a theme, and over the years, we've come up with some pretty cool ones...

Back in 2006 my brother and I were on a red kick and decided that even though it was the middle of December we wanted to create a Valentine's Day house...

In 2007 we had some crazy fun creating Roxanne...I've noticed that whenever we need to name something in our family we name it Roxanne--the Hanukkah house, our navigation system, my brother's car....sheesh!

This year we decided to use banana chips on our roof and ended up creating a hula girl and a surfer for our tropical themed house. Pretty sure we all had summer on the brain.

-how cute is our hula girl?-

Friday Happiness: Cheers to a New Year

taken from here
Happy New Year everyone! I've taken some time off from the blog, but over the holidays I got a lot of feed back about my site from friends and family, and everyone seems to agree that they love my Friday posts, so I figured what better way to jump back into blogging than with a Friday Happiness.

I hope you all enjoyed the holidays this year and got to spend some quality time with your families. I always love the holidays and am sad to see them go, but I have to be honest, this year, my body is so happy to not have to have another christmas cookie or slice of pie. I ate SO much during my time off and I am  looking forward to getting my butt back in shape. I'll be running my second half marathon in April, so I need to get strong, get lean, and buck up!!

Before I share my happiness from the week, I want to thank you all for coming back to read my blog. Whether you are a first time reader or a Dolce Vita stalker, I appreciate all of your comments and feedback and would not have been able to grow my blog without all of you. So cheers to 2012 and all that sparkles and glitters and makes me happy :)
