Wardrobe Wednesday: Fashion Gives Back

In keeping with the BCA theme from yesterday, I had to post about these amazing Earnest Sewn jeans that not only look cute, but that give back as well. Nothing makes me happier than when fashion and charity come together, and ES and the Susan G. Komen Foundation did just that. $20 of every purchase of the Breast Cancer Awareness jean will be donated to the SGK Foundation throughout the month of October, so get your credit cards ready and go order your own pair now! I promise this is one purchase that you won't regret.

I chose to style my jeans with this chambray top (knotted!), this tank (for optimal comfort), and some pewter flats for a more laid-back (wishing it was still summer!) look:

Think Pink

October is a month that empowers, embraces, and unites women and makes them come together and celebrate life. I love seeing the collective fight towards beating breast cancer and it reminds me of how lucky we all are, whether we've kicked cancer's butt, or have been lucky enough to avoid it. Cheers to thinking pink for the rest of the month. More to come tomorrow, on how you can be fashionable and give back at the same time.

Gap Rules

Over the weekend, I went shopping with a friend of mine, but after spending quite a large sum of money on new apartment furnishings, I've put myself on a no shopping budget. That's really hard for me, especially since all I do at work is stare at pretty clothes. So when we went into Gap, I literally had to talk myself out of buying the whole store. I'm not usually one to gravitate towards Gap (I consider myself a tried and true J.Crew kinda girl), but this season, the design and style team has totally stepped up their game. I loved everything, and that's an understatement. The one rule I'm taking away from their styling this season, is layer, layer, layer!

Here are some of my fav looks that the Gap team styled. I'm totally partial to the green parka and layered sweaters look. Which would you wear?

Friday Happiness

taken from here

It's a gloomy day here in NYC, but at least it is finally Friday! It seemed like a long week, and I'm welcoming the weekend with open arms...hope you all are too! I had lots of events, early morning workout sessions, and work this week, so I'm looking forward to a low key weekend. What are your plans? Hopefully something fun!

Happy moments...

Like Butter

One of my favorite trends for fall, besides oxblood, is leather. I'm really into leather accents, like sleeves on a jacket (i've  been wearing this one non-stop), and leather pockets on a shift dress. There's something really cool and edgy, yet totally chic and polished. What's your leather craving this fall?

Paint-a-Pumpkin

One of the things on my to-do list this fall was pumpkin painting, and since I've finally gotten into the fall spirit, I spent yesterday morning with my family shopping for fall goodies and pumpkins at the best market, Delicious Orchards. I would have loved to go pumpkin picking, but I settled for the easy way out and ended up finding the perfect little pumpkins to decorate my apartment with.

My mom came across this no-carve pumpkin decorating slideshow from Real Simple, and when she shared it with me, I knew I had a DIY project on my hands. I'm not usually one for DIY...I am never truly happy with the end results, call me a perfectionist if you will...but this seemed simple and easy enough for me to tackle.

Naturally, I gravitated right towards the metallic pumpkins, which totally works in my favor, because the living room in my apartment has all metallic accents. I'm loving the way they came out...the perfect fall decoration!

Happy Friday everyone! I've successfully survived living on my own for a week! Not that I didn't think I could, or anything! I hope you all have had a great week and are looking forward to an even better Saturday and Sunday. I'll be heading home for the weekend, and I'll be spending lots of time with my family. My brother is home from college for a few days so I'm looking forward to us all being together again!

Bauble Head

I've been into sparkly necklaces as of late, and I've recently fallen in love with t+j designs. If you haven't checked out their site yet, do it now! They have super cute pieces, and one of my favorite ways to wear them is with a t-shirt, jeans, and a pair of comfy kicks. There's something really cool about adding a sparkly necklace to a lazy sunday afternoon outfit.

I just saw the new collection at the brand's preview on Tuesday afternoon and let me tell you...you're going to like what they have in store!

Here are some of the pieces that I'm loving over on their site now...

top: gold spikes bracelet, pretty baubles bracelet, watch band bracelet
middle: minty luxe necklace, luxe chain necklace, luxe spike necklace
bottom: little rose gold bow ring, gold star ring, luxe bow ring

I wore my luxe spike necklace the other day with one of my new favorite j.crew sweaters

Fly Eagles, Fly

Since the NHL can't seem to get their act together this year, it looks like I'm going to have to resort to watching football this fall. Even though, I'm not a diehard football fan, I do enjoy the festivities that come along with it, and am looking forward to rocking this Junkfood Philadelphia Eagles tee to some Football Sunday events!

I love how cozy and soft it is, and yes, I'm a girly girl, so this will keep me looking super cute on game day when I'm hanging with my boy and his buddies. Grab your team's gear from JunkFood today!! Oh yea, and GO EAGLES BABY!

A Glimpse

After what feels like forever, I am finally moved into my apartment! My bedroom is pretty much organized with the exception of some clothes that still need to be hung and put away, but I am so happy with the final product. I'm still looking for a few key pieces...a full length mirror, a floor lamp, some storage bins, a few more throw pillows, and this from Anthropologie. I recently ordered this tray from West Elm and I can't wait to add it to the top of my dresser. It's all coming together! Slowly but surely!

Here's a peak inside my bedroom and bathroom!

Motorin'

Fall is officially here, with the cold weather right on our heels. Which means the sandals that I was wearing last week when it was 80 degrees, now need to be packed away, not to return again until the spring. Which also means that I need to amp up my boot game! On the top of my wishlist...a new pair of motorcycle boots. I love the edginess and cool factor that they bring to the table, but I also love how they can be dressed up with a cute pleated skirt and blazer, or worn casually with a pair or destroyed jeans and a flannel shirt. Have you seen any boots for fall that you're currently lusting over?

Amanda Catherine Designs

One of my favorite finds so far since I've been in the process of moving has been Amanda Catherine Designs, a shop on Etsy that makes affordable prints. There are a million and one shops on Etsy that print cute quotes and pictures, but there was something whimsical and sweet about Amanda's shop. What I loved so much about this particular shop compared to others, was that I could customize each print to match the decor in my room. Since I'm sticking to a navy, grey, and white color story, I had Amanda change up color combos on the prints that I selected, and as soon as my basic white rectangular frames arrive, I plan on putting these on shelves above my bed...I think it will be a nice stark look against my blue/grey walls. When I'm settled in, I'll give you a sneak peak into my bedroom to see how my prints turned out, but in the meantime, here are some of my favorite pics off of her site!

Wardrobe Wesnesday

The weather has been so wishy-washy here in New York, and I can't quite figure out how to dress. As much as I love the fall, September and October are always the in-between months where a dress and bare legs are comfortable one day, but a sweater and a trench are necessary the next. I like consistency, and so does my closet!

Since it has been dreary and muggy out, I opted for a dress that I actually forgot I had (one of the perks of moving...finding clothes in the back of my closet that I forgot I owned!). The silky fabric makes it super comfy and easy to wear, but the 3/4 sleeve makes it still wearable for fall. I love when I can take pieces from season to season!

Here's a glimpse at the fabric pattern. A little patriotic, don't you think?

Enter Here

With moving on my brain (and in progess!), I've realized that there's something super refreshing and unconventional about a painted entrance way. Front doors, garages, back doors, gate entrances...they all look so much better with a little hit of unexpected color. It doesn't have to be an over exaggerated neon pink either, a pale blue or lacquered black have the same effect. I think it makes the exterior of a house look interesting and cool, and I'm loving all of these that I've found on Pinterest. Would you ever paint your front door a crazy color?
