Beach Bum, Summer Fun

Okay, so I am kind of obsessing over everything Roxy right now. I am totally in love with all of the bikinis, board shorts, hoodies, and dresses, and am secretly wanting to be a little surfer chick...or at least this girl who is in all of their marketing (minus the blonde hair, because let's face it, brunettes definitely have more fun.) Can't wait to stock up for my vacations this summer!

Double Peanut Butter Paisley Brownies

I promised my boyfriend that I would bake for him this past weekend, and his request was for plain old sugar cookies. As much as I like sugar cookies, they are pretty easy to make, and I was feeling a little bit more adventurous in the kitchen. After going through the pantry to see what I had to work with, I came across a bag of peanut butter chips and a recipe for Peanut Butter Paisley Brownies. I was intrigued, and the outcome was delish.

bake and enjoy
Follow this easy recipe, and you too could taste a little piece of heaven...

Ingredients:
1/2 cup (1 stick) of butter or margarine
1/4 cup of peanut butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup packed light brown sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp of vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 2/3 cups (10 oz pkg.) peanut butter chips
1/2 cup chocolate syrup

1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 13 X 9 baking pan.

2. Beat butter and peanut butter in a large bow. Add sugar and brown sugar; beat well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Blend in vanilla.

3. In a separate bowl, stir together flour, salt, and baking powder. Mix into the peanut butter mixture, blending well. Add the peanut butter chips.

4. Spread half of the batter into the pan. Spoon chocolate syrup over the top. Carefully top with the remaining batter. Swirl with a knife to create a marbled effect.

5. Bake 35-40 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool completely in the pan.

6. Cut into small squares and serve. Makes about 36 brownies.

Nudetural

Seriously spring, where are you? I'm tired of this 30-degree weather. Anyone else ready to pack up their sweaters and boots, and pull out spring jackets, dresses and sandals?

In an attempt to break free from the cold, I put together a little collection of nude shoes that I think are great for the spring/summer. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of these. They go with everything! I've got my sights set on the Messeca's. With a pair of wide-leg trouser jeans and flowy little top, I'll be all set!

Lucky Brand Emmie flats $59
Messeca Colbee wedges $169
Elizabeth & James Sisal platforms $198
BCBGeneration Anja sandals $118
Seychelles Bismuth heels $120
Steve Madden Paiigge sandals $70
Sam Edelman Gigi sandals $60

Pola Dots, Check, and Chevron Stripes

I was walking in the Upper East Side last week, by 78th and Lex, and walked passed a Missoni store. I am normally not a huge Missoni lover, but the window display was so eye catching that I had to take a peek inside. What I saw in the window was just a small taste of what was to come once inside the shop. Bright colors, crazy printed scarves and lots of volume. Basically, my summer wardrobe...with the price tag of my entire salary.

What I loved the most was the constant use of chevron stripes. I think they are kind of having a moment, and Missoni's use of the stripe in a fun "mix-matchy" sort of way totally gets an A in my book.

Gifted: Trina Turk

Today is a pretty dreary day in NYC. Just when we all thought the warm weather was kicking in (70 degrees on Friday!), mother nature decided to fool us and drop two inches of snow. How about that for a slap in the face? Take me away to a tropical island stat!

I had an appointment in SoHo earlier this morning and to be quite honest I wasn't looking forward to trekking down there from my office in midtown in the snowy/rainy mist. When I got back to my office though, I had a lovely little present waiting for me from the ladies over at Siren PR. They decided to gift assistants in hopes of brightening our day, because let's face it, we are all overworked and underpaid! I love my new Trina Turk tunic and can't wait for the warmer weather to make another appearance and maybe stick around for longer than a day, so that I can wear this! Thanks ladies! You all rock! xx

If I was actually headed to that tropical island, these are some more Trina pieces that I would bring along with me to go with my new tunic:

Arm Candy

Getting dressed during my senior year of college, whether it was for class or to head out to the bar on a Saturday night with friends, was always a process. I lived in a house with 4 other girls, which meant 4 additional closets to raid. Needless to say, the possibilities were endless. Amazing, I know.

One of my favorite things to style though was what we called "The Bracelet Arm". It wasn't a new fad (I used to come home from sleep away camp with handmade beaded bracelets all the way up my arm), but it became a little bit more sophisticated and fashionable. I carried the look on for a while and then decided to simplify my look-one or two bracelets would suffice-but have had a recent change of heart and have brought "The Bracelet Arm" back into my life. Here is the one I have been wearing for the past couple of days.

I want, I need, I have to have...

Charmed

Anyone that knows me knows that one of my most prized possessions is my charm bracelet. On my 23rd birthday (March 16th), I was getting ready to put my bracelet on and realized that I have had it for almost 10 years. Wow that seems like a long time! But in those 10 years I have added charms from all of the places I have traveled to (the Eiffel tower for Paris, a gondolier's hat from Venice, a hamsa hand from Israel), and I have also received charms as gifts for birthdays, holidays and for special events in my life. In a way, each charm represents a little piece me.

As I was going through my email the other day I came across a brand called CharmCo and immediately became engrossed in all things gold and sparkly. From anchors and high heels, to boxing gloves and evil eyes, I was drooling at my desk. At least my boyfriend will have endless gift ideas for me now, right? Here are some of my favs...
How do I not have a NYC tribute charm? Major necessity.

I get seasick but I LOVE sailboats.

The best part about getting Chinese food is the fortune cookie.

Would totally engrave "DOLCE" on it. That's my puppy's name.

Just beacause.

Because life is as sweet as a box of chocolates.

Here are some other amazing pics taken from the CharmCo website. Utterly obsessed.

Come Sail Away...

To say that I have an obsession with anchors would be an understatement. My obsession stemmed from living in Rhode Island for four years while attending the University of Rhode Island, and since then I have been hooked (no pun intended). I am totally loving the whole nautical look that is happening right now for spring and can't wait to indulge in some much needed beach weather. Here are some of my favorite nautical inspired pieces.

Marc By Marc Jacobs Striped Knit Dress $248
Sydney Evan Black Rhodium& Diamond Anchor Necklace $800
