Friday Happiness

taken from here

Nothing like posting this at 5pm on a Friday...if that's any inclination as to how crazy this week/today has been! I'm looking forward to organizing my life a little this weekend (i.e, my incredibly messy room), as well as partying a little tomorrow at a friends BBQ. Hoping for a fun and relaxing weekend before the craziness hits with work again next week. Heading down to Miami for another week of shooting...insanity strikes again! Happy weekend everyone!!

UGG Australia Fall 2012

I thought this week was going to be a quiet one here in the office, but it has proved to be otherwise. I've been busy working on some market work for an upcoming Miami shoot, but I've also been hitting up some previews to see Fall 2012 collections. I visited the UGG showroom yesterday, and fell in love with just about everything. They've totally branched off from the typical UGG boot circa 2000, and have created some awesome pieces that I'm DYING to get my hands on for the fall. So cozy, so lux, and so me! Here are some of my favs:

Lavender Lush

I'm back on the color kick, and today I'm feeling lavender. I posted a photo last Friday of my lavender nails (I loved the way they looked with my mint green pants--not available online it seems!), and I've been seeing a lot of the pastel shade out and about in the city, now that the weather has gotten warm (so warm it feels like it could almost be summer!). I love how feminine the color is, and when paired with a brighter color, like orange or teal, it adds a little bit of unexpected sweetness to the look. I also think it looks great when paired with lime green. Something cool about it...like the bikini below which I'm LOVING!!!. I'm not sure that I would wear this color on top (unless it was an accessory) for fear of it washing me out, but I'm totally in love with the jeans, and of course the nail polish!

Birthday Weekend Recap

My 24th birthday was a complete success! Friday was spent at work (unfortunately), but a few of us went for an amazing brunch at Norma's (if you are ever in NYC, this is THE place to go for brunch. so amazing!), and I received an amazing cookie cake from my childhood friend Heather, who actually works at Michele Marie PR. Such a sweet surprise--literally. Friday night, I celebrated with my parents and boyfriend at a delicious Italian restaurant in one of my favorite little towns in Jersey. We ate lots, drank lots of yummy wine, and then went home for presents and cake. I got a NOOK, which I am super excited about, and this (in burnt orange!!) MK bag, which I've been coveting for quite some time now. I also did some shopping yesterday at J.Crew with my mom...can't beat that! Saturday we went to our friend's house for a St. Patty's Day BBQ...the weather was amazing (until the sun started to set...then it got chilly). We had lots of fun tossing back baby Guinness shots  and listening to some Irish tunes...and typical me...ended the night fast asleep on our friend's couch. It was a super fun night though!

Thanks to everyone who helped make my birthday so special! Looking forward to heading up to Boston this weekend to celebrate my friend Taylor's birthday! Let birthday season continue...!

Birthday Happiness

Happy Birthday to ME!! Today I turn 24! Wow...crazy how times flies! My boyfriend txted me last night before we were both going to bed to wish me a happy early birthday, and he said "I love all 24 years of ya". This got me thinking...

We've known each other for 12 years...half of my life. We've dated for 6 years...a quarter of my life. That's just CRAZY stuff! I love him though and am happy to have him with me to celebrate my birthday :)

I also want to wish a very happy birthday to my best friend, C...she turns 24 today too. Birthday twinsies...guess that's why we are BFFs. Love you lady <3.

Here's what's been making me happy during my birthday week...

Jetsetting: Seattle

Yes, I'm off to Seattle. Such a random place to go, but I feel like I might actually like it there...if I wasn't going to leave to come back home on the redeye tomorrow night. It's no Miami, or LA, or Mexico, or New York for that matter, but it's time away from my desk, and I get to work with soccer star, Hope Solo! Not too shabby!

Friday Happiness

taken from here

Hello Friday, I have missed you. So happy that the weekend is finally here. No big plans this weekend...after last weekend's big party and next weekend being MY birthday, I'm looking forward to taking it easy this weekend. Pilates will definitely be part of my plans as well as a monster run, maybe some shopping (more like SHOPPING FOR SPRING IS A MUST!), a family dinner tonight, boyfriend time, and then I leave for a quick trip to Seattle on Sunday night. And by quick trip I mean I'll be there for literally 24 hours. Crazy, insane, unreal. Yes, the adjectives can go on and on. I have a cover shoot with a famous soccer star, who shall remained unnamed (can you guess who??), on Monday and will be taking the red eye back on Monday night. I think I'll be flying across the country longer than I'll be on land. Oy!

Happiness...

Wardrobe Wednesday (On a Thursday? Sure Why Not?)

Silly me, I forgot yesterday was Wednesday. Guess that's what happens when you are a crazy, insane person at work. Actually, yesterday was fun, so I can't complain to much. We celebrated a co-worker's birthday and went to the Monkey Bar for lunch. It was so delicious and I highly recommend checking it out if you are ever in NYC and need a swanky place to eat or grab cocktails. It's definitely a hotspot for the publishing crowd (read up on the restaurant, and you'll understand why).

Since I knew we would be heading out for lunch (instead of sitting at our desks like we normally do), I decided to wear a silky printed Chelsea Flower dress, black tights, and my black suede loafers. It was nice to change up the pace a little with a dress in exchange for my jeans.

Trendy Nails

I'm a nail-a-holic, as you know, and am obsessed with getting my nails done (and the occasional DIY mani at home). I'm usually pretty conservative with my nails, keeping my fingers and toes all matchy-matchy, without any designs or crazy trends. I did fall into the glitter nail craze though back in the fall (and am still utterly obsessed with it btw), and have recently tried the Sally Hansen stick on mani--which, I've become a huge fan of!

I'm in desperate need of a pedicure (the ocean and sand from the Miami photo shoot that I was just on, did a number on my once pretty teal nails) and have been toying with the idea of doing something really fun and springy this time around. Here are some inspiration manis that I've kind of fallen in love with...which one should I choose?
don't love the color, but i love the stripes on one nail!

nude and mint...cant go wrong with that

kind of wanting to try the pastel crackle. loving the racing stripe, and of course the neon french

Peachy Keen

Color is everywhere this spring (seriously though, when is it not? we act like color is such a trend, when in reality, not so much). A few weeks ago I did a little round up of my some of my favorite mint green pieces, and today I'm feeling a little peachy. The blush color is really a great color for all skin types if kept in the orange family...go a little to light and you run into nude tones, which can be tricky to pull off. I think it looks great paired with similar pastel colors, and also looks great when paired with a contrasting color like turquoise or of course, black. Here are some of my fav peach pieces this season.

Cheers to 50 Years

My mom is a very special person, and last night 30 of her closest friends proved that when they came to celebrate her 50th birthday. The actual "big" day isn't until the 13th, but we all drank lots of wine, ate lots of yummy food, and shared lots of great memories in honor of her milestone birthday.

Since my mom hates surprises, she decided to plan her own party so that we wouldn't be able to throw her one (in true mother fashion). She's the best cook (I dare you to disagree with me), and since everyone knows that it is her passion, she decided to have the party at a cooking school where we were all a part of making our delicious meal. We had a salad to start (we candied our own pecans...so amazing!), wild mushroom soup, asparagus risotto, and a choice of beef wellington or salmon in a puff pastry. For dessert we had bananas flambĂ©, and of course no party would be complete without cupcakes, so we had a variety of Crumbs cupcakes. Pure amazingness.

The night was a total success, and I am so thankful to everyone who came. I know my mom had a ball, and appreciates each and every one of her friends. She deserved to be the center of attention last night, and she looked beautiful as the hostess. Love you mom! Happy early birthday! Cheers to 50 more amazing years!
